I'm looking for any info on ESP AX-2E, How do I interpret the serial number on the headstock? It's 10801964. Do they still sell them or are they discontinued and why?
Any chance you can share some photos? I don't think the AX body shape was available in the time before the serial numbers that started with a letter, but I might be wrong. If so, it's likely from the late 90s or early 2000s.
the ax-2e is from ca. 2008 pus. op is misreading the number, it's an "I" serial
It's an I not a 1.
It's an uppercase I that looks like a 1.

Yeah, as hobo suggested, a 2008 model. Interesting looking guitars, with the natural wood, but just didn't sell well. The other guitarist in an old band had an AX-400 for a short while. It felt good, like any 400 level LTD, but it was a bit awkward to play.

I believe that serial number starts with an "I" ("eye") not a "1" ("one"). 2008. haven't made those for a long ass time.
