Esp Viper weight differance

Esp Viper weight differance

Hi!

I'm a big fan of Esp and especially the Viper guitars. I currently have 5 of them, but my latest purchase got me a little stunned.

I bought a used Forect camo from 04 and it felt alot lighter than my other vipers, so of course, I put them on a scale.

Esp Viper '04 Foresst camo - 2,8 kg.
Esp Viper '05 Gloss black - 3,7 kg.
Esp Viper '07 Black satin - 3,7 kg.
Esp Viper Baritone '08 Black satin - 3,8kg.
Esp Viper 7 '09 Black satin - 3,8 kg.

Can anyone explain the weight difference between the regulars? 900 grams is huge for the "same" guitar.
The baritone and 7string make sense that they would be slightly heavier.

Really it just depends on the cut of wood.  It may have been a different type they used for that one which is typically lighter weight.

That's all a possibility, but 25% weight difference doesn't add up.

My best guess right now is that the Camo was a Standard series-custom order, where the buyer could do some minor changes to the Standard Series with low extra cost and that this specific guitar was ordered with a different type of wood.

It could still be some kind of Mahogony, but definitly not the same.
