If you want to kill the \"fizziness\" that 5150\'s got pigeon holed with then use a lower gain 12AT7 in the V4 possition. That is the tube that buffers the signal before going into the power amp. It will take the amp and warm it up a bit a give it a little more \"life\" so to speak. The high gain 12AX7\'s that they use in all the slots make them sound rather cold and lifeless. Also, I would highly recomend Tungsols for V1, V2 and V3 as they totally rape in 5150s, or at least in mine they did.<\/p><\/div>\n\n \n\n
