The KH-4 arrived today and it has 2 COAs.
The first is the standard issue USA COA we are used to seeing. You can see it is dated late June, most likely when it arrived in Hollywood.

The string tension is the same, it's the string compliance is different. Break over the nut and tailpiece have a bit to do with it, as does the length of the string between the nut and the tuner.

What your saying is correct and I would feel the same way however a lot of sellers are pricing SSes at K prices. That said, looks like a search of ebay completed items show 2 gray ESPs sold <$2K in the last couple months.......MORE »
The only difference I can spot is the angle of the strings over the saddles.
