Makoto99

Are all 3 of the Eclipse E-II models full-thickness (satin white and the blue burl as well as this black burst one)? Or is it just this one? Also do you have an average weight on these? I had a single-cut from a competing company that weighed more than my bass guitars... had to sell it :( I have an E-II Viper and love it, and an ESP Eclipse and would like to upgrade the Eclipse to an E-II but not sure if it'll be comparable?

Thanks in advance!

*I have an ESP LTD Eclipse, I meant to say...

Carl N.

Hey Makoto, only the models which denote full thickness will be of that specification.  The others will be modeled after the thinner bodied Eclipse instruments.

nick l.

what are the specific design differences in the full-thickness models? Is the neck thicker as well as the body? Is the neck a different shape?

Is this meant to have any impact on tonality, or is it more just a personal thing about choosing a heavier guitar?

Thanks a lot

Carl N.

Hey Nick, full thickness will refer to the body thickness.  This will be a thicker bodied instrument than that of our typical Eclipse models.  This will affect the tone of the instrument as well as the weight and feel.

Renato T.

Can we get a lefty version of this full thickness one? I would buy one without a doubt!

Carl N.

Hey Renato, sorry we do not offer this at the moment, we'll keep your comment in mind when designing new models.

Paul J.

Probably an impossible question to answer, but it seems all the retailers our out of these.  Any idea when more will be shipped?  Or how much of a back log you guys need to work through?

Chase

I have one in stock right now. www.reverb.com/shop/musicloft

Todd B. ESP

Thanks Chase!

Todd B. ESP

Hey Paul, I see that you got a reply from one dealer, hope you can work out something with them. It's hard to say who has them in stock but you can always contact our sales department directly by calling during business hours and they can help you. Often times we are between shipments and sometimes backordered for certain models so we will fill our oldest dealer orders when we get our next shipment.

Nick K.

FYI that music loft reverb link doesn't work

Renato T.

how is the forearm edge of this model? Is it sharp like the regular E-II Eclipse? I've owned a Japanese Eclipse, but had to sell because the edge was hurting my forearm.

Todd B. ESP

Hi Renato, Thanks for your question. The corner round on this and other E-II Eclipse models is a little tighter than our LTD's. It does make it slightly "sharper" feeling, but I would not say it's excessive as you mentioned. I do know what you are talking about. Some years ago our Eclipse did have a rather sharp edge which could be uncomfortable for some players. Hope this helps.

Renato T.

Thanks Todd B. ESP for the reply. Here is the Eclipse Standard Series MIJ that I used to own from 2011. I miss this guitar in every way. The ebony fretboard, the playability, the "ball-like" fret edge treatment. These Japanese luthiers are very talented. Any chance the lefties will get a left handed version of this E-II full thickness one? I would buy one without a doubt.

Todd B. ESP

Hi Renato, Thanks for your reply. We can't see the image you posted so please check it again if you are able to post it here. Yes our luthiers in Japan at our factory and custom shop are amazing for sure! It's nice to hear that you recognized that talent and can see it in our products. Although there is not a LH version of this guitar available currently, it is quite possible that either we or one of our dealers will do a small run of Lefties if there is enough demand. Thank you for your suggestion.

Renato T.

Hi Todd B. ESP, I updated the image. See if you can see it now. This is a very nice guitar. I couldn't believe how comfortable the neck was, the fit and finish was outstanding. I found my love for ebony fretboards when I played this guitar for the first time.

On the left side edge close to the control knobs, you can see that the edge angle is very sharp, so the lighting reflects in a concave way. This reflection also happens on the forearm contour, so the geometry is uncomfortable to play. I think you mean the new Eclipses have a smoother forearm contour? (like, convex instead of concave)

Let me know, I would really love to have another Eclipse from Japan

Todd B. ESP

Hi Renato, thanks for posting the photo. Wow, that's a beautiful guitar! I would say that the corner round at the binding corner is slightly softer or less sharp , but we still have the concave shape (the Arch top shape extends down below the height of the binding and then back up to meet the binding). Not sure if that helps but hope so.

Renato T.

Hi Todd B. ESP just stopping by to say hi! I would really love to get that black burst full thickness E-II in lefty - or any major color for that matter. Cash in hand and ready to order! It's a dream of a guitar hoping we can make it happen.

Carl N.

Hey Renato, unfortunately this particular E-II is not currently produced in left handed.   I would recommend contacting one of these two dealers below, they specialize in left handed instruments and have a history of offering models in left handed orientation exclusive to their stores.

Hi

can you tell me if the neck is one piece of mahogany or three pieces?

Todd B. ESP

Hi Victor, The E-II Eclipse models with mahogany necks are using 1 pc mahogany for the necks.

Matt H.

Any plans for eclipse models with luminlay dots in the future? Would be a great addition to range.

Todd B. ESP

Hi Matt, Thanks for your suggestions. There are no current plans but we have noted this suggestion as a consideration for the future model releases.

António N.

Does the E-II line have stainless steel frets?

Todd B. ESP

Hi Antonio, No we do not use stainless steel frets for the E-II product line currently.

Nick K.

They need to start using SS frets, they do on the USA lineup, but not the LTD or E-2 series

Guitar players don't wanna spend thousands on guitars with nickel frets anymore, it's a ripoff

Todd B. ESP

Hi Nick, Thanks for your valuable feedback. We do appreciate it and we here you. If we are able to offer stainless steel frets in the future I hope that you will consider one of our models.

My Guitars

That will make it even better. maybe four nobs, two volume, two tone. Just thinking in the next guitar after get this one. Still dreaming, keep making dreams come true

Todd B. ESP

Hi Juan, Thanks for your comments and suggestions. We do appreciate all your feedback.

Weight relief on this full thickness?

Todd B. ESP

Hi, There is no weight relief for this model.

Mario H Armendariz

I just got mine and its beautiful!!

Todd B. ESP

Hi Mario, wow! great! Glad you like it!!

Chris M.

Nice!!!   weight on it?

Todd B. ESP

Hi Chris, These weigh approximately 9.25lbs.

Mario H Armendariz

It doesn't feel heavy at all, its very comfortable

Todd B. ESP

Thanks Mario!

Nicola V.

Are these EMG noiseless even when splitted in "single coil" mode? Thks

Todd B. ESP

Hi Nicola, great question! Yes, EMG's single coil toil will still be "hum cancelling".

Steven S.

How thick is the maple top?

Todd B. ESP

Hi Steven, The full thickness body is 60mm thick. There is a plain maple cap under the veneer that is 15mm thick. The flamed maple veneer on top is standard veneer thickness of less than 1mm. And the mahogany body is 45mm. hope that helps.

Steven S.

Are all E-II figured tops veneers?

Todd B. ESP

Hi STeven, yes the E-II's all use veneers for figured tops.

Armando P.

Everything about this guitar is completely stunning.  Traditions are great and all but ESP has built its brand by taking chances.  They're stepping out of the shadows of traditional builders by breaking the rules.  This guitar is the epitome of that idea.  It's loyal to traditions in that its full thickness but built for modern players who want ergonomic playing with the carved neck heel joint and belly cut.  Not to mention the finish looks awesome too.  It's a completely new take on a traditional single cut flame maple top.   Awesome.  Just plain awesome.   She will be mine.  Oh yes, she will be mine.

Todd B. ESP

Hey Armando, thank you for your remarks. It's nice to hear how much you like your design and we hope you can get one of these guitars soon.

Christopher D.

This is the smartest design in single cut guitars. There's nothing about this I would change and now have my sights set on this beast. That burst is beautiful.

Todd B. ESP

Hi Christopher, Thanks for your comments. Glad to hear you like this design and hope you can try one out!

Robert D.

Really hate the cut out on the back side... You are forcing people to use that cut out who may not like it or it may not fit them... you should not be doing this on a full thickness Les Paul style guitar... I had this in my cart at sweet water to order but when I saw the cut out I removed it from the cart... Such a disappointment... Seriously... Stick the the classic body and shape of a Les Paul custom... I might as well go to RAN guitars and custom order what i want.  I think every year you try to innovate instead of going with what works... I think someone at ESP is trying to justify their job and screwing up the products to stay employed... The cut out may not fit me and others... But it'll force us to use it and we may not be able to hold the guitar in a comfortable position... This is seriously a stupid mistake... not everyone holds a guitar the same way... Now i'm pissed... I thought I had found the perfect guitar but nope... someone screwed it up... I just found out you guys are also chambering your LTD 10001T's... are you guys numb? did you not see how Gibson screwed up doing this? the Les Paul no longer felt like a Les Paul... people complained... people stopped buying their guitars... The reason people want the traditional size Les Paul guitars is FOR THE WEIGHT... For the love of god fire the person who thought the cutout was a good idea and fire the guy who thought chambering a traditional Les Paul was a good idea...

Todd B. ESP

Hi Robert, Thanks for your comments. I'm sorry to hear that you don't like this design. We will consider your comments and suggestions and we do value your feedback.

Chris M.

Go buy a Gibson then, I love the cutout

Robert D.

Chris M.

I did... Blueberry Burst Les Paul Standard.

Andrew L.

They need to make more or all Eclipses full thickness. It just ruins the single cut style to make it super ergonomic and sleek. Just leave the awesome brick guitars how they are.

Todd B. ESP

Hi Andrew, thanks for your comments.

victor t.

Dear

The full thickness model is available in snow white satin or only in black natutal burst?

I am not sure of the availability of full thickness when choosing the option of snow white satin
Can you clarify it? Thank you

regards

Todd B. ESP

Hey Victor, The Snow White Satin color is not full thickness. Only this FM top with Black Natural Burst has full thickness body. You can tell be the type of jack plate. Look at the angled photo and you can see square plate on the full thickness version. Hope this info is helpful.

Chad P.

What are the neck thicknesses at the 1st and 12th frets going to be?

Todd B. ESP

Hi Chad, This is our Thin U shape, 20mm thick at 1F & 22mm thick at 12th fret.
