Picked this up a few days ago. It's a fantastic instrument.

Pros: The nut is really well done. There are no dead spots and it rings out nice and clear. Fretwork is smooth...not a bump to be found. The locking tuners do the job, I've barely had to tune it. It looks gorgeous and it's extremely comfortable. Love the coil tap. I've always found it kind of useless on my Fenders and Gibsons, but it really changes the dynamic and clears up that low B string for recording clean tones.

Not necesarrily a con but something to be aware of. The pickups are pretty high output for passives. They have that scratchy grind... reminds me of a higher output JB.

Also, it's pretty neck heavy. But, I've experienced this with every seven string I've owned so it's not a deal breaker.

Mine is made in Indonesia. For what it's worth the difference between Korea and Indonesia is negligible. Maybe a few years ago it mean something, but with modern production I wouldn't give it too much thought. It was the same argument years ago with Fender and their Mexican produced guitars. The ones that are currently being produced are great.

I was on the fence for awhile regarding this purchase ( It's pretty expensive for an overseas guitar, especially in Canada) but I'm glad I bought in. It's a keeper.

Make this guitar with EMG's again!

Super Strat

No way, man! Keep the Duncans....Enough with the EMG's already!

thanks for your suggestion.

Quick question: I currently own an Ltd SC607b in purple satin with 2 fishmans, will this guitar have a similar neck profile? I am wanting a 2 humbucker 7 string, but with a normally placed neck pickup and wondering about this one.

Todd B. ESP

Hi Lonnie, yes the necks have the same profile and specs so they should be very similar.

Thanks for the info. Love my SC607b’s neck and body, just wish the middle pickup was a true neck pickup. I have been playing passive Seymour Duncan’s since the 80s and this was my first experience with actives. Love the bridge pickup, just want that true neck pickup sound.

I bought this guitar 7 years ago and it came with EMG 81/85. Is this model no longer available?
