stock pickupsI have this exact guitar and have had it for at least 10 years. Since then I have added a Gibson BurstBucker at the neck and a Seymour Duncan Dimebucker at the bridge. the neck pickup gives me awesome cleans when I put all my amp's tone dials at 6 o'clock. ticket a really crunch I like to sweep the Eq on the dime bucker squeals. the playability of the guitar is good on the neck, but if I had anything I would change it would be that I need a little more sustain and better ability to stay in tune. but for this value this is a great guitar. chopping rhythms, and lots of other things. the main reason I like it is because of the memories I had with it.
I currently use this one to test drive pickups, Its a really nice guitar even compared to my esp standards. I bet the burst bucker sounds good, I was thinking about a burst or 57 in the neck. Think I have an extra dimebucker sitting in my pickup box, maybe I will put that in the bridge and give it a try. On the blue one I settled on a Dimarzio air norton in the neck and duncan sh5 ( duncan custom ) in the bridge. The tuners on my blue one started going bad and slipping so I now wind the strings on backwards. I will probably upgrade both of them to some locking tuners at some point, It's definitely a good enough guitar to spend the money upgrading.
