Horizon with a scalloped fretboard?

Hi guys!

I've recently bought a Horizon which the previous owner claims it's fretboard was factory-scalloped by ESP. I've never seen anything like that before, so thought of asking here. Also, since I'm already here, let me ask some other questions.

ESP HORIZON - SERIAL #29106

Questions:

  • 1) Is it really factory-scalloped?
  • 2) What is the year of manufacture?
  • 3) I see the bridge pickup is a Seymour Duncan, but the neck has no logo - aftermarket or factory installed?
  • 4) What is the body wood?
  • 5) Not related... but any idea why the clear coat has yellowed so badly?

I don't know anything about your particular guitar but ESP did make a Vintage Plus with a full factory scalloped neck. It was passed off as a quasi-Yngwie Malmsteen signature model.
