Stainless Steel frets wear out strings faster?

Is it true that stainlesss steel frets wear out nickel strings faster?

I think not having the strings wear out your frets is alot better than stainless steel frets wearing strings out faster. I mean what's more expensive, a fresh pack of strings that your supposed to change every month or so anyways, or any sort of fret repair/replacement? I wish ESP would use stainless steel frets, but right now all of their guitars have nickel silver frets.

Hello Lautaro G,

In general metals with an increased hardness, like stainless steel frets, will wear down other softer materials more quickly. However, as SunnyD pointed out, the preferred frequency of string changes typically eliminates this downside as the reason for installing SS frets is usually to decrease the amount of fret-wear you experience.
