    EC 331 FR - Active pickups not working correctly

    I recently purchased this guitar second hand. I found that the earth had detached itself from the jack by previous user not being careful. I had it re-attached, replaced the battery but now whenever I play it through an amp, it sounds "bit-ratey" if that makes any sense? like an wierd synth from an old SNES?

    Also, the pups seem to be livlier, but still weak, when I remove the battery. 
    My tuner is not picking up any notes either when I try and tune with it. 

    Any thoughts on what the issue is?

    Samer, it sounds like the guitar has some serious problems. Mostly it sounds like the pickups were not rewired correctly. Our best recommendation for this used guitar is to have an experienced tech check out what's going on. You could have bad soldering points, a bad wire... any number of factors can cause what you're describing. You might be able to get some additional details by writing to our support team at customerservice@espguitars.com, but ultimately someone is going to have to check each point in the signal flow and see where it's not getting through correctly.
