Don't believe we've made one of these yet here.  So...post up yer pictures of stuff.

exhibit-sbt

You should take all the pictures and post them as a comment to this, in case we reach more than one page and it auto puts them on the top of each page..

Here's a pretty good show I got of Paul Ray from False Prophet..  I don't have any fancy cameras but I thought it was a pretty great shot nonetheless.

metalhobo

that's a sick shot and a sick kelly

ChainOfThought

Good call.

And definitely a good shot.  I'll have to find my pics from Meshuggah when they replaced Kidman with a cardboard cutout  (He was too sick to scream)

Also don't know if it's my work interest or not, but all your pics are not loading.  Just little small dead boxes.

ChainOfThought

Its probably me, I tried direct linking to my shared iCloud account rather than uploading them here or elsewhere.  I'll fix them at some point.

Ok, finally got them uploaded here and posted.

edit:

I finally got my DSLR brought to me out here, so I'm gonna be trying to take more/better pictures from all the places I visit while travelling for work.  For now what I have to share are mostly pointed at being desktop wallpapers.  All of these have been (mostly heavily) touched up in iPhoto... I'm a pretty big fan of the over-saturated look, so, yeah.

Anyways, these are all from Amman, Jordan; Abu Dhabi & Dubai, UAE; and Doha, Qatar.  No particular order, so if you want to know exactly what one of them is just ask.

These were all shot on a Nikon D5200, using either a Nikkor 18-55mm & 55-300mm or a Sigma 10-20mm that I picked up during the trip.

You've got some really neat pictures there, Chain. Would be interesting with info about your cam, objective, exposure etc.

ChainOfThought

Well luckily my camera tags the photos with all that info and I can see it in iphoto

Any picture in particular?  They're pretty much all a bit different.  For instance, the first picture was with the AF-S DX VR Zoom-Nikkor 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G Lense, taken with ISO640, at 18mm, 0EV, f/4.5 and 1/640 on the shutter.

The second was the AF-S DX VR Nikkor 55-300mm 4.5-5.6G ED, ISO640, 55mm, 0EV, f/4.5, 1/800...

Some cool shots, Moloch.

exhibit - The OP showing on the top of each page has been is no longer...

I thought mainly about no. 5. The depth in it is awesome. Really like the one with the straws aswell. All good pictures(unless we're gonna be critical and say that the frogs are somewhat out of focus, but we won't mention that )

ChainOfThought

Haha yeah I know the frogs are, it was the best of 5 or so shots though.  That one I remember I was using the 300mm lense and had to zoom fairly far in.  Shooting through some scratched up glass and past a light.  Between the heavier lense, longer shutter speed and hand-held shooting...plus being rushed by the wife...I wound up without a great shot.  But with the way the frogs happened to be sitting, I just couldn't pass up using it anyways, that pose is just too cool IMHO.

ill get the specs on #5 later.  That is a shot standing right next to the front of the grand mosque, looking up at the detail work done on the side (you can sort of see it from the front-on shot I posted, all the stuff to the right of the main entrance.  It was with the tamron 10-20 lense, I only used that lense at the mosque that day, the rest I'll have to look up.

edit: Tamron 10-20mm F4-5.6 EX DC HSM

ISO100, 20mm, 0EV, f/9, 1/320

Here's the original.  For most of them I don't take so much liberty in totally CHANGING the coloration, I just enhance the shit out of whats there.  This one, however, was more deliberately done as a desktop wallpaper and I wanted it to be blue

Thanks for for the comments. I feel a little guilty about doctoring them so much....but they just look so much better when the colors are exaggerated and in some cases the definition is brought up a few notches.  Maybe I'll post some originals for comparison.

Great thread idea and great pics, especially of the grand mosque, nice and sharp. I recognise the view under the chandelier and of the marble columns. That first lobby chandelier I remember I was with my friend and read somewhere that the grand mosque had the biggest chandelier in the world.. I said to the Arab attendant in the dish-dash upon entering the lobby "ohhhh my goodness, is this the largest chandelier in the world?" (As I thought it was absolutely enormous)..

he chuckle and said "no sir... THIS is the largest chandelier in the world! (As he escorted me a few steps into the main atrium)

i nearly shat shay myself then and their. Talk about opulence

ChainOfThought

Haha yeah I know what you mean.  Largest chandelier, hanging right over a 60,000sq ft carpet.  The whole thing is definitely an absolutely impressive thing to behold.  I'd been to Abu Dhabi a couple of times before actually going in and touring it and it still hasn't lost that 'holy, shit.' effect when driving by and seeing it from the highway.

Here's a shot from sitting at our hotel pool.  I'm not really big on going to the pool but my wife is, so I figured I'd compromise and carry the camera down to play around with it.  I wound up like 100 or so shots of water like this   Anyways the Grand Mosque is the structure thats hazed out in the background.  It was not far from our hotel, across a small body of water, but I unfortunately had an obstructed view from the pool area and our room was on the other side of the hotel.
