Peavey XXX Late night faceplate change
Got to looking at my XXX for long enough and I realize that I absolutely hate those Trucker Girls. So, I bought a large piece of diamondplate, "I figured I would screw up with the cutting or somewhere," matched it up with the old faceplate, drilled the right holes, then decided it would look to bland, so I put an extra Cutlass emblem from my '71 into the mix. Drill that in and epoxied it from the back. I must add, it was incredibly difficult to cut out the metal, I started the cuts with a hacksaw and then used a freaken sawzall, I'm surprised with how it turned out and that I didn't castrate myself in the process. I did want it to be flatter, but I ran out of semigloss and had to mix a satin finish. But, I love it. The cab is a legacy which I dyed the doo doo brown to a blue, its very flat and subtle, doesn't jump out unless I use flash. I like it, but yeah, you should re-do it later on with a flat black plate.
