Neck Finish Question
I have owned ESPs since 1991. I am currently looking to buy my 5th and like the LTD Horizon 1000 series. My problem is I dont like painted necks and cant afford to custom order, and the only way the 1000s come is set or neck through, painted. I was talking to the guy at the music store and he said I could take a VERY fine sandpaper, like 1000 grit or higher, and dull the clear coat out. Has anyone ever done this? If so did it feel at all like an unfinised neck? Any help is appreciated.

It will give a satin like finish... and over time, will get 'shiny' so it will be a real slick surface to move around on. Just make sure to tape off the neck at the heel and at the headstock volute so you get a nice even line between the satin and gloss... otherwise you'll risk making that thing look like shit.
