7 string tension question

Would it be harmful to my guitar to use 10-52 +70 gauge strings in standard Bflat 7 string tuning (down half a step) on a 25.5" scale guitar? The Neck is maple. Thanks, :p

70 seems to be a big jump for the low B string, but as long as you adjust the truss rod, I don't see it being harmful.

Seems grossly excessive. But like Pus said, so long as you adjust your truss rod accordingly, I don't think it would be a problem.

Seeing as how a standard 7 string set of 10s has a 59 as the 7th string I'd say a 70 is really excessive.

Beaten Beyond

Using D'Addario strings on a 25.5" scale guitar, a 52 gauge NW string has 19.61lb tension tuned to Eb. A 70 gauge NW string has 20.43lb tension tuned to Bb. Keep in mind that tension isn't the only thing that affects overall string feel, but those are good ballpark guidelines. Bottom line: you should be fine.

i use 11/60 in drop a and its fine on mine
