2 springs vs 3 springs for a Floyd

Metahead
is it looser and easier to push and pull with 2?
johnny00

I've found that yes, a Floyd is easier with 2 springs, and there is also more flutter when flicking the bar.

It's also easier to bend strings. The downside to this is that it's more difficult to keep the guitar in tune. Especially when bending strings or playing multi-note fingerings.

i use 4 springs

Metahead

can you list pros and cons of 2 vs 3?

johnny00

2 springs
pros: easier to push, better flutter. easier string bending
cons: harder to keep in tune when bending notes...the other strings will go flatter when bending. But I got used to it.

MV-CTM

what kind of thin ass strings do you use with 2 springs? :lol

Matthew

Once I get me some strings I'm gonna set up me geetar like Rope Latvia.

Two springs are connected straight on the furthest two positions on the treble side. One is connected to the furthest hole on the bass side of the vibrato and on the second to last thingy on the spring claw on the bass side. I hear it distributes the tension more evenly and gives the trem a smoother feel. Also, MOAR FLUTTAH!!!1
