The written custom means that the guitar is made in the custom shop ?

Not necessarily.  In the 80s "Custom" on the headstock meant the guitar had 24 frets.  In the early 90s, "Custom" sometimes meant neck-through construction.

If you have a photo of the entire guitar (especially the back of the headstock), we might be able to help you determine if it's a Custom Shop built guitar.

The photo does not means "custom shop" but only that this particoulary ESP is a "Custom" model (la traduzione Custom model significa appunto, nell uso comune italiano, "modello personalizzato").

For example for the Gibson guitars, "Custom" is a particulary finished model with many significative particoularities.

Custom Shop, on ESP guitars, is written, on circolar print, on the back of the headstock.

Since 2003.  Before then, it's a bit more difficult to determine.

Now it is a global map graphic

The new logo is growing on me, not that I own guitars with the new logo. But I think it's pretty cool.
