Just got my quote back for a custom QM antelope with a rose inlay at 12th fret. Here's what I got back... If this custom would be made with red acryl, $13,399 retail,Your cost $9,999.00. If this would be made with MOP and abalone, $14,399 retail, $10,500.00.

Not as bright and heavy as you'd think. :p Quality maple bodies have a full tone with tight bass, punchy mids and great clarity on the top end. They cut through any mix, but they're not overly bright or shrill. As for weight, you can usually get away with a fairly slender body when the whole thing is carved from one piece of wood - it'll still resonate for days!

The reason I decided to go with him, was the raindeer he did recently, its not exact, but I like what he did with it

yeah even an amount such as that is multiplied by the thousands it would have cost originally.
add in inflation and costs of labor and it makes sense.
