A KH-DC Silverburst ?!

A KH-DC Silverburst ?!

Hey Guys,

I fall on that pic few days ago :

It was few hours before their show in the Apollo Theatre in New York on September 2013.

There is a logo on the headstock that looks like the Gibson flower, or it's maybe the "KH" signature logo, I can't clearly see if it's a Gibson headstock or an ESP one ... (I'll go for an ESP one ...)

I know that he went for a Green one (See Through Black Green) back in 2013. More I look at the pic, more I think it is clearly a KH-DC.

It has the same Silverburst that the Gibson Explorer of Jamz :

If everyone has more infos on it, please to hear you,

Cheers,

G.

Yes it is a silverburst one. This pic was in one of the So What mags. I probably like it better than the others because of the chrome hardware instead of gold.

Custom "Orderable" ?  This one is pretty unique, more valuable than any DC Red or Black ...

I wouldn't think a different colour would make it more valuable. I would assume it should cost the same as the other 2?

The other two (Red and Black(rarer )) were realesed as Signature Series, and some Custom Shop models are on the market. So, that's mean you gonna see one every 3 months on eBay. The question is, have you already seen a Silverburst DC on the market ?  For sure they are the same guitars, same specs, etc... but the finish is unique and this make the guitar rarer and by the way, more valuable.

Am I wrong ?

well, in my opinion, yeah, you're wrong. If they release it as a customshop model to purchase I don't see why they'd charge more, it's just another colour finish they've added to the lineup. Both the red and black versions are available for $5k, if they add the silverburst to the lineup I don't see how they could justify charging more than the other 2.

If you are saying you would custom order it as a one off, then yeah, it may be more valuable to you.

I would probably concur. If they made a limited edition batch in silverburst, I could see that being more valuable. If you just custom ordered one in SB, then you would need to find a buyer interested in having a unique piece and willing to pay more. Not saying that couldn't happen. I recall when the second snow white KH-2 was released, the one with the white pickups, someone paid like $10K for it.

I saw this pic years ago, but I never picked up on the fact that it was a silver DC. lol

Kirk has a MASSIVE guitar collection, so there are plenty of guitars that that we haven't seen yet and will probably never get to see.

I bet he has some really cool and unique KH2 guitars that we haven't seen before also.

As for value, I don't know if this silver one is worth anymore as it's only the colour that is different.

If you really wanted to, you could have one painted by a specialist to make it look like this one.

I doubt ESP would make you one in this colour and sell it as a KH DC, but you never know.

Thanks for sharing man.

Tondog

I know who painted Het's 1985 Explorer there!

ESP 348

You did?

Big Daddy B

Looks like he still does

So the issue of So What this was in is Volume 20 Issue 4. You can now download copies for free on Metallica.com I tried to print the page to PDF for upload but it prints sideways.
