M-1001NT Upgrade?

    Looking to buy a new M-1001NT and considering upgrading the nut to a Tusq upon purchase at Sweetwater.  Is the extra $200 worth it? Also considering having it Plek'd which would be an additional $300.  I understand i could always get it done further down the line but would like to avoid sending it out if it would be worth it to do it in the first place

    DO NOT spend $200 on a Tusq nut or $300 on a PLEX without playing the guitar first. LTD makes quality stuff, the guitar probably needs neither.

     

    If you want to change the nut out later for a Tusq, they cost like $13.

      The nut may be worth upgrading, but $200 seems a bit high (at least for my part of the world.) I'd pass on the Plek. If you have a reputable repair tech / luthier in your area, they can probably do a nut and full level and redress for under $300.
