Installing EMG pickups

    Installing EMG pickups

    I have an LTD F-154DX and its five string counterpart the F-155DX. For a while now I have been wanting to upgrade them with active pickups, specifically the EMG 35DC (four string) and 40DC (five string) but Ive never attempted anything of this sort before. How difficult is insilation? Could I do it myself or take it to a luthier? Also would I have to get a new pre-amp?

    Ehmm...welll, dunno about actives, but I changed pickups once(well, actually did it with my father just to be sure I don't mess it up), it wasn't hard if you know what you're doing, you know, take it slowly and carefully watch the wiring diagram twice, solder once.
