VB-400 mods

The ever elusive Viper Baritone magically appeared on Craigslist last week and at first I thought I was going to get to trade it straight across for my 12-string Alvarez acoustic, but after much debate I kept the acoustic and the guy sold it to me for next to nothing.

It's been modded for 24v, strap locks, Grover tuners... $250. The finish has been worn down on some edges, I had to relocate the top strap button to the neck joint, and there's a couple of dings here and there, but holy hell, for that much money I was expecting a beat down piece that would need lots of TLC.

I had a pickguard that would fit my standard Viper 400 but the pickups are spread considerably further between the neck and bridge, more like a Gibson configuration. I ordered a few cheap SG pickguards to play with. I'm considering refinishing the guitar see-thru-cherry but the baren spots are actually buffed out really well, almost look natural. I'm not a fan of the "road worn" beat-up look, but it's growing on me.
