Modding TE-202 bridge piece/pickup questions (2)

I know it's frowned upon but I really am thinking about buying one and sticking a humbucker in there, and my question is aside from buying a new bridge piece would I have to do some wood work? Or is there space under the bridge piece? I played one at a local store the other day, loved the look, loved the feel, but the tone was slightly lacking for what I like to play . I used a Line 6 and dialed it up how I always do, so it's not the amp, it's the pickup. Alternatively, does anyone know about a good single coil pickup that has a good tone? Thanks, and please don't come burning down my apartment!

Seymour Duncan little 59 tele pickup, for the bridge.

The SD Little 59 is not as PAF/ low output as the full size humbucker. It is single coil sized and you can find them used on Ebay all day. It sounds huge and clearnwith distortion and nice and warm with cleans. In my experience, Seymour Duncan pickups have a bit more personality and warmth than Dimarzios. Had several of both. I can't imagine you not liking it.
