i have an ec400vf and have played plenty of ec1000's. i prefer the look / feel of the 22 frets and i like the full thickness body compared to the slim body on the ec1000. i get a beefier tone out of it. as for construction there going to be very similar, however if your speaking of a ec401,, i think those are made in indonesia and the 1000's are still in korea.. im not positive about that, but the korean made is going to have a better build quality more consistantly id imagine.

so then the only difference between the two would basically be build quality like i was assuming? but the tones from both will be almost, but not exactly, identical.

ya pickups most likely will be different, the thickness of wood. id just try and avoid the 401 and go with a 400 if you can.. otherwise id get the 1000

^^i was confused i thought you were refering to the ec400vf which is different from what you just pictured. that is a ec400 flat top with 24 frets. where as the ec400vf is 22 frets with an arch top. i have owned both and the ec400vf crushes those ec400's..

and yes its built quality when it comes to indonesian vs. korean.. the ec1000 is a different beast from the ec400vf.. so thats just a matter of preference.

well ive owned a 400vf and played a few 1000´s
the main differences are these the 401vf is made in indonesia, its got 22 frets full thickness
the 1000 series is made in korea, has abalone, generally emg pickups slimmer body with bellycut and 24 frets.
the 1000 is better

so then out of the 400vf and the 401vf, the 400vf is the one to because its made in korea and will have a better build quality. do i need to be catious about places on the web that still have the 400vf new or have they not been that long discontinued?

thanks for all the help guys. maybe if im lucky i can find one of the 400vf around here somewhere. one last question though.. did the 400vf with the arched top come in the sunburst colors or did they just come in gold and black

at first it was just gold and black and it was called the 400AT now its sunburst called 400VF
