SD's IMO are alot more versatile.. if your going for a brutal metal sound id go with the EMG's. if you want a metal sound plus far others I'd go with the Duncans. I was a EMG player strictly for about 8 years, and recently switched to passive duncans. I don't think ill be going back anytime soon...

How about the difference between EMG's & Blackouts?

^after installing the Blackouts recently on my guitar. I found them to be louder, higher gain and a little warmer then the EMG's. They were almost too hot for my liking. I took them out aswell and went to passive duncans. I did however like them better for cleans then the EMG's and preferred the EMG's for that distorted brutal metal tone.
