Lets say you want to get a different paint job on your guitar. Where do you go and how much do you usually end up pay for (if its even possible)? feel free to send pics of your guitar.

I can paint them for several hundred(ish). Depending on the amount of paint and work involved. Imagine a car fender, or hood being painted. About the same amount of paint, slightly more work. Runs between 300-600$ about. Depends on what you want, equipment installation, all that stuff. heres some ideas of how they can turn out, these are my work. They are hung in a paint booth, properly sanded, primered, sanded, basecoat, basecoat, wetsand, clearcoat, wetsand, clearcoat. all with automotive equipment and paint.

This one was simply recleared for a stronger finish, which came out pretty damn good, I forgot to post an update on it.

Well, I'm a mechanic, those are the only guitars I have painted. The V was the first, the black and orange one is the most recent, heres some cars I have worked on and painted. I work on volvos mostly though.

I spray with auto primer/base/clear, primer and base coat only take about 5 hours to harden well enough to work on, clear coat I always let sit for 2-3 days. I wont move the guitar out of the spray booth for at least 24 hours. Just some insight on time to wait.

Lucky, just leave it alone and save up for another guitar, cost of paint materials is worth more than the guitar itself. filling in pickup holes is also not worth it as many fillers will sink over the years and become noticeable through the finish.

+1..... material cost is ridiculous, isn't it SBT?

And I can't figure out why the keep going up in cost and insurance companies refuse to pay more... Yeah, I generally only charge an extra 100-150 for labor which is practically like doing it for free, just because the material cost scares everyone away.
