ESP Horizon FR-II/tremolo springs

I just bought a 2003 model Horizon FR-II. It was in D-standard tuning, at least seller told me so. When I removed thicker gauge strings and installed a 9-42 set and tuned it in E standard I found out that it had only two tremolo strings. I Tried to add one OFR spring, but it was impossible to do proper set up with it because I had to loosen claw screws so much to adjust base plate angle that I was worried there was not enough threads in the wood anymore. So I removed that added spring and adjusted the trem with two springs installed.

So, is it normal that ESP FR-II has only two tremolo springs when set up correctly in standard E tuning? Those seemed to be regular Floyd Rose springs, nothing special with them. I have a ESP M-II and few Jacksons and they all have 3 springs. Does it make significant diffrence if there are only 2 springs? Does it affect in tuning stability?
