Fret grime???

    When I first got my Eclipse II, the fretwires felt so polished and smooth. It was great. A couple of months later I am noticing some build up on the fretwires. Is it from keeping it in the case whenever I am not playing it? It seems like I can scrape off some of it with a pick or my fingernail. How can I get rid of all of it. Someone said to take all the strings off, put some light masking tape over the fretboard, and then proceed to use a 0000 steel wool on the fretwires. I am learing of this. Any other suggestions on removal and prevention? I don't want to leave it out fo the case as my kids would probably beat it up.

      LOL. I do always wash my hands. This build up does not seem to be on the strings or anything else. Just on the fretwires. I have used the neverdull in automotive applications. Should I cover the fretboard when using this stuff?
